Yes, Leica and Contax-Zeiss are currently my lenses of choice for the wide
end on my 1DsII body. I primarily use the Zeiss 21/2.8, Zeiss 18/4, and
Zeiss 35-70 f3.4 macro zoom (an extremely sharp, and relatively unknown
lens). I've also owned and shot the Zeiss 15/3.5, which is the best 15mm
lens I've used, but not as sharp as the Zeiss 18mm or 21mm lenses.

I actually prefer the Zeiss over the Leica, but both are far better than
Canon. For Leica, my favorite is the 100mm APO Macro lens - I think it's
the best Macro lens every made, and is superb on the Canon 1DsII body.

Schneider made a 28mm PC lens for both Zeiss and Leica, but it's poor
performer - not even as good as the Canon 24 TSE lens.

The Zeiss 35mm f2.8 PC lens is excellent. It's a definite step above the
Oly Zuiko 35mm Shift (I've carefully tested them against each other).

Unfortunately, Zeiss doesn't make a 24mm Shift lens.

At this time, the best SHIFT/PC lens wider than 28mm is the Zuiko 24mm
SHIFT. I just wish it was as good and sharp as the Zeiss 35 PC.

Mike

Ah yes, I recall that thread now. And you're obviously working in a
much more demanding league than I am.

I remember reading a photo.net comment a few years back from a guy who
claimed to be a very demanding pro shooter. Said he tested pretty
much all the quality wide angle lenses on the market and Leica was the
only company who made 'em right. Can't find the thread now
unfortunately . . .

FWIW, a number of people in the Leica R group are shooting their Leica
glass on Canon dSLR bodies while they wait and wait and wait for Leica
to deliver a digital option. Call their rigs 'Leicanons'. FWIW.

Thanks!/ScottGee1
