On the contrary, what you are both missing is that the original question
referred to an OM-1 not an OM-1n.

Walt,

You're not missing anything. You definitely need the Shoe 4 for an OM-1n.
That's what I've got and it works just fine.

Since the OM-1n is manual (you probably know the OM-1n better than I do,
since I usually use it as a backup to my OM-2n), it's my understanding that
the only thing that the extra contact that Shoe 4 provides you is the flash
ready/confirmation light in the viewfinder.

No epoxy should be needed.

Why do you have so much stuff you don't use? You're a Zuikoholic, that's
why. You are probably also a medium and large format film-oholic also.

I currently only aspire to be as good an-oholic as you when I grow up. My
only medium format cameras are a couple of rebuilt Agfa folders (1 - 6x6, 1
- 6x9) and a Holga). I haven't grown up to large format yet.

The Shoe 4's are in pretty short supply, so you could probably get a fair
price for them ($40 - $50, maybe higher, on yabe), but then again, I can't
imagine how you'd do without them.

BTW Walt, you spotted anymore of those fine looking dolphins like the one
you photographed last year?
