I have a Hunt's Camera near my house. Last time I was there I had a
discussion with four sales people concerning DSLRs. Two used Canon, one
Nikon and one Olympus. All of them like there systems. All said the kit
Canon lens was pretty cheap. All had high praise for the E-1 ability to
produce excellent images right out of the camera even though the Canon folks
saw the 20D superior to the E-1. I did notice their pricing is a little
high.

I am looking at all the options at the moment and as part of this exercise,
I went to CCI camera in Providence, a division of Hunt's Camera.
I wanted to check on the spot and possibly buy the E-1.
Instead, I got sensory overload...The seller was well informed. He was not
an expert by any means, but very well informed.
The E-1 was next to the C*n*n D20. And guess what happened...I got the
pitch for the D20. I was given all the usual reasons why I should stay away
from Olympus and instead choose the worry free purchase. EOS kit was less
expensive than the OLY digital in their store, although, I think the lens in
the former was much cheaper...
I was impressed by the E-1. I felt at home with it as I did with the EOS
system before and a the time I had them together, one in which hand. The
viewfinder was so bright and actually I could see the whole thing...IMHO the
quality of materials in the E-1 is several degrees higher. I did not get to
play much, because the batteries of the E-1 "ran out of juice".
The behavior of the salesmen sure hurts Olympus.
