The more I ponder this, the more curious it seems to me, for a few
reasons. I trust the following doesn't offend anyone... ;-)

   1. Anyone who signs up for this list either knows, should know, or
could easily determine that the archive exists, that it is
accessible to anyone, not just list members, (including robots
that sweep for email addresses) and that publishing your address
to a subscription-based list is giving away your addresses to
potentially thousands of people. Everything on the net is caveat
      emptor.
   2. Anyone subscribed to the list who did NOT know the above, could
unsubscribe, and politely request that his posts and/or email
address be scrubbed from the archive, and go away.
   3. There are innumerable options for using another email address and
alias that provides some protection from whatever this person
fears. I have one email address that I use for one or two forums
where I post. That address gets THOUSANDS of SPAM messages.
There is one subscription that sends out a frequent "thought of
the day" type of message, and those I wish to keep. So I set up a
filter that retains only those messages, the rest go into the bit
      bucket immediately.

In general, if you join something then discover you don't like the terms
and conditions, then stay away.
