It came in an all-too-cute and sumptious purple fake-silk lined box, but the
4/3 OM adapter is now in the house. My wife is leaving tomorrow morning for
her family reunion in Texas, a place where I choose never to be between June
and October*, particularly among folks barbecuing goat instead of pig.

Being from Texas (well, actually I'm still roasting my butt in the heat and
humidity of Houston) I understand your "no visit" schedule. My bride gets on
a big bird in the morning to go to Colorado while I drive to a place that is
hotter than where I am currently in hopes of photographing some snakes of
the rattle and water moccasin variety. That being said, what are your in-laws
doing roasting a goat? Pig or dead cow meat would be my choices, but then
I'm taking photos of snakes. After my problems with the computer this week, I
should probably stay away from snakes. Don't guess you could get bit twice
in the same week by a snake . . .could you?

The weather here is predicted to be perfect for the next few days, so I have
plenty of unsupervised time to try all sorts of "unauthorized" lenses on the
E-1.

I think I'll start with the Zuikos: 50/2, 90/2, 100/2, 180/2.8, then the
38/2.8, 80/4 and 135/4.5 macros on the 65-116 tube, followed by the 300/4.5
and
400/6.3, despite the fact they aren't "permitted" according to the
cheat-sheet that came in the too-fancy box. Then I'll try the 80-200/2.8 and
300/2.8
Tamrons, and maybe even the 1250/10 Celestron. I will also, when moved by my
muse, mix in the 1.4X-A and 2X-A teleconverters.1

Knock yourself out. You are going to like being able to use the Zuikos and
your Tamrons. I may get on my belly with a Tamron 400mm f4 and a 1.4X or 2X
and stare a snake in the eye.

What's it going to cost me besides some wasted time and fil -- oh, that's
right. I keep forgetting about not having to worry about that pesky film and
processing thing. :-)

That is right, just remember to back up (which I may need to do while on my
belly with the snake). SSSSSSSSS Bill Barber
