Funny thing, here in Uruguay we consider Total Cholesterol (CT) to be normal
within 120 to 240 mg/dl (miligrams = 1/1000 g. - deciliter = 1/10 l.)

Seems we learned this from the New England Journal of Medicine [ ;^) ], but
some doctors here are on the opinion that normal concentration should be
lower, especially considering LDL and VLDL Cholesterol.

If you were advised to do so 'using excersise' instead of 'using diet', I'm
tempted to suppose he was referring to HDL Cholesterol, or the CT/HDL ratio.

Just in case....

Fernando.

(who suffers from *low* HDL Cholesterol, and therefore a high CT/HDL ratio,
should be doing excercise but prefers 'using' atorvastatine or, next,
rosurvastatine - and a loosely followed diet. Planning to buy a Trek, but
walking one hour thrice a week is easier and cheaper. Biking 30 Km is not
that much unless it's summer or it's rainning - been there 'till I was 40,
but only during holidays ;^) -- staying away from computers and from tobacco
smoking are sage advice too.
