BTW, my current favourite slow food is Ina Garten's recipe for boeuf
bourguignon. Not as slow as it might be (3 hours to prepare versus
longer for an "authentic" recipe, but the results were wonderful for
me. Served with a big, buttery (but NOT over-oaked) chardonnay (trust
me on this one,) it's a good thing.

Also wonderful is a mushroom-crusted beef tenderloin cooked on a cedar
plank on the grill. Serve with a Bordeaux or single varietal such as
cab sauv or cab franc.

On the lighter side, baby greens salad with fresh strawberries, toasted
almonds and poppy seed dressing, served with a well-chilled rosé. Make
sure the greens have been organically grown in
non-heavy-metal-contaminated soil. Heavy metal music in the background
optional, if incongruous.
