Ah I see, not owning any digital cameras myself I wasn't aware that
you'd have the option to not set WB until the RAW conversion. That
seems like a great option then because you'd have the versatility to
play with different WB settings on the same shot and see how they look
when converted to B&W. If you combine that with all the options you
have for converting to B&W you end up with a lot of potential for
experimentation.

That's what I thought but not having the option to try it myself (see
above) I thought I'd throw it out there. I suspect that a red filter
would be the worst as that would only hit 25% of the pixels. With a
green filter at least you'd be hitting 50% of the pixels. But I can
see how the interpolation would be pretty thrown off. Yellow, being a
mix of red and green might offer the best results but still probably
throws off stuff too much.

I know I've seen some digital IR stuff before, yet another thing to play with.

For myself, I've come to terms with the fact that I am going to go
digital at some point in the future. I imagine it will be for colour
first. For the moment though I'm still enjoying film and will likely
hold onto some film equipment for B&W even after going digital.
