My 21mm f3.5 hood is rubber and screw in style so can we conclude that there
may be three versions? Can anyone step forward with a metal one in either
style?

This is one place where I think the eSIF is wrong.  The proper hood for a
21/3.5 is a clamp-on rubber hood that is also used for the 35/2.8 Shift
lens.

The proper hood for the 21/2 may be a screw-in hood, but not the 21/3.5.
