Hi folks:

My name is Robert and I'm a zuikoholic. ;o> Finally returned to the Oly list
after a few years off. It's
good to see that it is lively as ever. As you know one seldom beats the disease
of zuikoholism. Even
when I was trying to stay sober I kept sneaking around taking pictures and
furtively adding a lens here
and there. I still have the two lovely OM-1s (coming your way soon John H.)
that I bought in '74, the
lovely OM-2 that I bought in '76 and the two nice OM-4s that joined them a few
years ago. Later I
added an E-20 so I could play with digital using my Mac G5 and Epson 1270. Now
after a few weeks of
E-1 chatter I find that I am once again sneaking looks at reviews, photographs,
etc. My son's new E-300
hasn't helped either. (There's only so much a man can stand.) There's just one
problem...my wife has
offered to shoot me if it looks as though the zuikoholism is surfacing again.
And yet...there are those
rumors of an E-3.... If I'm going to get shot, it should be over something
special.

The conversations about B & W photography and Graham's lovely photos have also
triggered a desire to
set up the old darkroom in the basement and introduce the grandson (12 yrs) and
grandaughter (10
yrs) to the facination of shooting, developing and printing their own B & W
photos. (Kodak Tri-X 400, of
course. Maybe a roll or so of the latest Fuji Neopan.) Both had point and
shoot cameras for a couple of
years before I started them out with OM-10s and Zuiko 50mm f1.8 and Tokina zoom
70-210mm
f4-5.6 lenses a couple of years ago. I want them to get a better grasp of film
use before they inevitably
go digital to save money. And...to be honest...I want to play around a bit with
B & W myself. I still have
a pristine YashicaMat LM from the '50s which produces terrific looking 6X6mm
shots and I just received
a nice old Koni-Omega Rapid M 6X7mm with 90mm f 3.5 Hexanon as a gift from a
friend. Then there's
that vintage 2 1/4 X 3 3/4 Speed Graphic with the 120 back....

BTW...someone mentioned Diafine the other day. I have used the Diafine two
solution developer in the
past. I shot Tri-X at 1600 normally and the two shot developer made it almost
impossible to over
develop the film. Enlargements to 8 X 10 looked great. I didn't print anything
larger, so I can't comment
about grain on larger prints.

Where was I? Oh yes, all of the forgoing was to reintroduce myself and to get
to the nitty-gritty of this
e-mail. The Koni-Omega 120 magazine is in dire need of a refoam job to make it
light tight again. I
think it will need 2mm strips. Some time back one of you mentioned the name of
someone who sells a
dense foam kit for this purpose. I looked up the site at the time and was
favorably impressed, but failed
to mark it as a favorite place. Would someone please repost that site address?

It's good to be back among fellow zuikoholics. I'm hoisting a lens in your
honor.

Robert Burnette
