This is true, and I have to accept that in my line of work. But I don't
have to accept that in my hobby.

I'm more concerned about the storage media dying, disintegrating or
being damaged, etc. rather than the media itself becoming unreadable
because of technological advances. If you can read it, you can move it
to modern storage methods. But you have no guarantee that you will be
able to read it.

Unlike film, which I know from past experience will be readable in 50+
years time. Whereas analogue deteriorates over time, digital has a nasty
habit of being all or nothing.

It's a bit like corks vs. screw caps. You can't risk a screw cap with a
good wine which *should* mature in time, as nobody's ever tried it so
nobody knows what it would do. Whereas we've had literally thousands of
years of experience with corks.
