It's an option, but not one I like personally. I haven't done that since
the meter on the OM-1 died in Guanajuato in the mid 70s. Slides came out
ok OUtdoors until I could find a new battery. I don't go traveling
without spares since then. :-)
Overall, I'd rahter have metering and do my own focusing. And the
ability to use various OM mount lenses was a big factor too.
