Well, I'm back from Boston, Maine and have downloaded and backed up my
images. Now that is progress! My general observations from my first trip to
that
area of the country are:
Maine is beautiful. Felt like I was in a scene from "Murder She Wrote." We
were in Tenants Harbor. Absolutely spectacular. Stayed with my son-in-law's
parents who are potters and have a pottery business in Tenants Harbor. It

are interested in handcrafted personalized porcelain.
LL Bean store in Freeport was great. Got three really nice shirts and a
nice t-shirt for just slightly more than it costs to fill up my SUV with
gasoline.
Contrary to what someone had suggested, the vertical scenery in Boston was
great. My disclaimer is that I am a happily married man, so perhaps you
should view my observations as those of a disinterested third party. Maybe it
was
Toronto they were talking about. Whichever it was, Boston ain't all that
bad.
Carry a hand held GPS when going to Boston. Half my time was spent lost and
I can read a map. I'll never rent a car again in Boston. It is an absolute
waste of money.
READ THIS: If you are in Boston between now and the end of the year, go to
the Museum of Fine Arts as they have a wonderful collection of about 140
Ansel Adams prints covering his entire career. We spent about 3 hours in this
one exhibit and to say that it was fabulous, understates the reality. Rent
the
headset for $6 as it adds to the experience and can be used throughout the
museum. The exhibit is from the Lane Collection, which is the largest
privately held collection of Adam's work.
As many on the list know, I am currently serving as the President of the
Houston Photographic Society and as such, write a column almost every month
for
our online newsletter. I would like to call your attention to this month's
issue for two reasons. The first is that I think our group is doing a pretty
good job of putting out information of interest to our members and to the
Houston photography community. Our editor, Tim Harris (a working photographer)
also does a spectacular job. The second reason I call your attention to it is
for September's "Silver Image" and my "From the President" column and the
accompanying photos (this is the minor chest beating). These were not, as you
will notice, done with either my OM or e-1 gear, however at least a couple of
the images were inspired by the beautiful images Graham shares with us. the
