Strobes with modelling lights?
Another option, which actually works very well is a four-element
florescent light fixture. These are the ones used in suspended
ceiling grids. They're 2x4' and reasonably mountable to a stand
made out of unistrut. Buy the expensive ones as they have the
best ballasts and are built a bit heavier. Get yourself some
Vitalite bulbs which are full spectrum and are balanced at about
5500K.
Actually, building up four units or more is a great way to
provide yourself with a nice studio studio lighting setup.
