Hi Guys,

Been busy for a few days. Lots of work !

Anyway, a few things to report. Firstly, for Chris and the other Mac
owners, I should tell you I am now a Mac owner too. I took the plunge
and bought a Mac-Mini. I'm running Windows and Mac side-by-side at the
moment, so I'll get a feel for it. I very much doubt I'll go completely
to Mac, but who knows .

Anyway, 2nd thing. A friend of mine (shooting a C*n*n Digital - one of
the expensive ones !) has been asked to shoot a show that his sister is
doing at Uni. He wants to show off the pictures straight afterwards,
and wants to do a slide show either on a Monitor or using a projector
onto the wall. The purpose of showing the shots is to let the cast look
at them to see which ones they want to buy. Apparently, the previous
guy who did it projected onto the wall (which was blue !), and the
obvious colour cast didn't put the "clients" off. (So they obviously
aren't that picky !)

Personally, I would take a laptop or a PC & monitor rather than a
projector unless I could guarantee at least a white wall (and preferably
a proper screen). However, he would have to buy stuff whatever happens.
He has no laptop, so some kind of portable computer would be needed
(he's a mac user, so would need to be mac for the sake of software). He
is interested in hiring a projector, but doesn't know where to start !

So, given everyone here has a wealth of experience and knowledge, I
thought I'd canvas for your thoughts. Where would one start looking to
hire a Computer Projector ? What sort of minimum spec should we be
looking for ? Should we completely abandon the projector idea ?

For what it's worth, I think he is a very good photographer. Obviously,
if he converted to Olympus he would be much netter, but bearing in mind
the inferior equipment he uses .. ;-) .. His work can be found here .

Lots to do. Email is still on PC at the moment, but might move that to
Mac soon .

Regards,

Jon

PS: Haven't been keeping up with list for a few days - hope everyone
came through Rita OK.
