If you want a Tamron 24-48 you really need to think about the lens hood - as
Bill knows only too well.

And you need to look in the right place. Need I spell it out?

Hey Bill,

You do have a point about Tamrons being a bit thin on the ground in recent
times. Before I got my E-1 I had been looking for the 24-48mm and only saw a
couple come up, though they didn't go for big bucks in the end I guess I
never bit hard enough. What I did end up scoring though was a 17mm. The one
I got was the earlier one with the filters built, in fact a version with a
red filter built in which seems to be harder to find (I am guessing about
10:1 vs the non red version). I am still hunting a long prime for use on my
E-1 in the 200-300 range so the 300mm f2.8 is on my list but I have yet to
find one that I like the look of. It seems odd to me as well that these
lenses appear to be turning up less. Despite the general downward pricing
trend when they do come up the prices are still strong on the most part.

Yes, sir. I've noticed some pretty good Zuiko stuff on ebay lately. Seems
like a number of collections have been split up. What has happened with the

Tamron SP adaptall lenses we all love (well, at least I love them)?
Specifically, the 17mm, 24-48mm, 180mm and 400mm f4s seemed to have
disappeared. The 90mm f2.5 and 300mm f2.8 seemed to have dried up a bit
also. Is this more digital folks snapping these up these MF lenses or is
that the stars are not aligned properly? Strange. Bill Barber
