As I remember, the 8mm Zuiko lacks the cam that tells the body what
aperture has been preset - it just has the aperture stop-down lever.
Consequently, the body cannot meter accurately and metering has to be
manual.
I have a Sigma 8mm and could not persuade it meter correctly on an
OM1 ('cos I couldn't see the needle which vanished into the black
circle!) or on an OM2000 with spot metering. I suspect that the
amount of black in the frame just confuses the hell out of the meter.
These problems may be the reason that Oly decided not to couple the
metering on this lens. Does it work with a 4/4T set on auto with spot
metering? (can you even do that - I forget).
I use a lovely little Voigtlander shoe-mount meter to do the business.
