I'll check it out.

The Quantum Q-Flash that doesn't work does not have a power switch at
all.  One plugs it into the battery pack, flips the switch on the pack
and the flash should work.  Also, the cord is built into the flash
itself so it's not modular and would be difficult to replace.

You're correct that they don't specifically claim compatibility with
the Q-Flashes but they do use the Q cord standard so one would think .
. .

I wouldn't be surprised if Quantum does indeed use one of the pins to
send a recognition signal.  I'll ask B&H and Brandess-Kalt-Aetna (the
distributor) to test other Q-Flashes and if they don't work to put a
disclaimer on the product and descriptions.  I had really hoped to use
this for a wedding I'm shooting this weekend and now have to go to
plan 'B'.
