This reminds me of the dark ages of Netware 1.x where there was
a broadcast message you could send to all users (or any
particular one). I was a computer lab assistant at the college
one one day decided to send a message to all users from the
"administrator" stating that their computer was going to
shutdown in 30 seconds.
You only do that once before you figure out how to disguise the
source of the message.
It did encourage people to hit "save" more often, though.
