Don't use alkaline batteries.  Have the OM-1's modified to use the same 
silver oxide batteries you use in your OM-4.  One characteristic of 
silver oxide batteries that is the same as mercury batteries is that 
both maintain their nominal voltage level until near death.  That's why 
mercury batteries were used in the first place.

Alkaline batteries, however, while still able to deliver a fair current, 
begin a significant drop in voltage almost immediately and continue that 
drop as the battery is used up.

The accuracy of your meter is dependent on that stable voltage level 
from the battery.  Throw out any and all alkaline button cells.
