The pictures in my parents' albums from those times are generally about 2"
square and were (I guess) 1:1 from the 120/620 negative.  Sometimes
(important occasions) they ordered 'enprints'.  Was the typical printing
process a contact print, and an enlarger only brought into play for
enprints?
Curious young minds want to know...
