I will second Tom's nomination of the Samsung SyncMaster 213T. I bought a
couple (less than $500 each with rebate) and love them dearly.

I have. The Samsung 213T LCD monitor is the best monitor I have ever used,
bar none. Accurate, bright, easy to calibrate.
Since a 21.3" LCD is equivalent in size to a 23" CRT (since CRT
manufacturers lie :), then the price I paid (under $600) is clearly cheaper
then a comparable CRT.
Oh, and it takes up a heck of a lot less desk space.
Find me a 24" Widescreen CRT for $850, which you can buy the Dell 2405FPW at
during their sales.
There isn't a price advantage anymore and the good LCDs are superior.
