The camera exposure system wants to see un polarized light. You use a
circular polarizer with the scrambling plate towards the camera.
A linear polarizer on the light would be the easiest to use. If you use a
circular polarizer the scrambling plate would have to be towards the light.
Adjust the polarizer on the light source to show minimum glare when looking
at the object. Then adjust the polarizer on the camera to either show
minimum glare (or if you can't see anything through the camera) try to
adjust the lens polarizer to be at 90 degress to the light polarizer.
