I've met Amory Lovins. He is brilliant in some ways and very stupid in
others. He has some good ideas about automobiles but some will take a long
time to sell. They have cars now that can make 500 miles per gallon of
gasoline and they are shooting for 1000. By the time they get there we might
be using hydrogen. /jmac

Depends on how old the car is. Rocky Mountain Institute <http://
rmi.org/> did a study for California about 15 years ago that found
that the cheapest way to reduce emissions was to buy up old, poorly
tuned clunkers and give their owners new cars. Amory Lovins is
brilliant.
