I'm always amazed by people who can hand-hold cameras at long focal
lengths and/or slow shutter speeds.  I keep practicing and my keeper
rate has increased but I'm still nervous when I don't use a tripod. 
Maybe that's what causes the 'shakes'!  ;o)
