I have a Sunpak 522 which is basically the same flash.  However, the Sunpak 
422/383 (like the Vivitar 283/285) can be attached to a Stoboframe flip flash 
or similar bracket to keep the flash head high above the optical center line of 
the lens to minimize visible shadows.

I sometimes use both the 522 on its own bracket and the 422 in the hotshoe to 
do some fancy bounce flash work.  With digital you can place both flash units 
on normal auto and with a couple of test flashes get them both adjusted by 
twiddling their ISO dials for a great exposure.
