Well, here's the page of the main supplier of these things (Kopin Corp)

They already offer an RGB 800x600 display and a monochrome 1280x1024. 
I'm not sure why we haven't seen the 800x600 in a camera yet.  Maybe too 
expensive or not enough manufacturing yield/volume.  But it's clear it 
can be done.  An RGB 1024x768 would be as good as many folks' computer 
monitor and can't be that far away.

I've been impressed with my Minolta A1's ability to project screen grids 
and to amplify the image when it gets dark and switch into B&W mode when 
it gets really dark.  The problem is the resolution is so low at 320x240 
I still can't see the detail.  Give me a high res EVF and real time RGB 
histogram and I'll probably be happy to give up mirror and pentaprism.
