If you'r in for a new machine now (meaning you can't/won't wait 8-9
months) go for the Quad.
It is about the fastest PS machine on the planet for the moment, and
will stay so for some time to come.
PS is programmed very well for MP use.
You can always go to www.barefeats.com for some benchmarking, also
compared to PC's.
PS still has to be reprogrammed for X86, and that'll take some time,
and a BIG performance hit when using it through rosetta.
