Respectfully suggest that the best test for noise is a long exposure,
at whatever ISO. The E500 performed quite respectably on 1-2 sec
exposures. I posted some basic real world comparisons on my pbase
site. Relatively slow - my tripod was my forehead and two elbows on
the table!
