Ah so. This is very true.  Ok, I stand corrected.  In
post-production you can correct the color balance in the shadows
seperately so that the images are neutral.  You can even build
an "action" to do it automatically too!  I recon that is some
form of improvement over a camera doing correctly in the first
place.  :)

What just chews my jerky is all of the sports/news shots on the
web and in the magazines where people have purple or magenta
skins.  Evidently, just because we CAN correct images in
post-production means absolutely nothing.  And since we all know
that nobody in sports or news shoots anything but Canon, we can
automatically blame Canon on the lousy skintones.

(the above statement is used for illustration purposes as I know
of two or three people shooting sports with Nikons and they get
grotty skintones too).
