The sleeve that my Olympus viewer CD came in had longer hours
listed for support, I think until 8 or 9 PM (EST). (This is
Olympus USA)

I called last Friday at about 7:40 PM and got someone.

My problem is that Olympus Viewer will not even install on my
XP Pro SP 2 system. Two seconds after starting setup.exe, I get
a message box saying the setup program had encountered a problem,
needs to close and please tell Microsoft about the problem.

The error signature was

AppName: setup.exe
AppVer: 1.0.0.0
ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180
Offset: 0002ae22

I gave the Olympus support person the name of the dll. The rep
went
offline to talk to his OS specialist, then came back and said that
the specialist had flinched when he said ntdll.dll. The
specialist
said that in his experience, whenever ntdll.dll shows up in an
error
message, a crash is imminent. I should back everything up
immediately
and call my computer's support about a fix.

I backed everything up, and then searched for information on
ntdll.dll,
and the stated offset but didn't find anything useful. In the
mean time,
the computer is still running OK, and I installed the
Photoshop program
that also came with the E-1 without problem.

Olympus Viewer did install OK on my Windows 2000 laptop.

I hope this isn't an indication of things to come, but when I go
to that URL, all I get is a graphical header and three lines:

Message
A fatal error occured.
Please restart installation from application. We apologize for
the inconvenience.
