I'm reminded of the comment at the beginning of Ken Burns' series
that baseball was invented so that murkins wouldn't have to play
cricket (and risk being beaten by foreigners?). Clearly it's far too
tricky a game for a people who have to keep interrupting football
matches for meetings to discuss what they are going to do next.
