I remember something about Olympus saying that such an arrangement might
put undue stress on the aperture actuation mechanism in the body.  Also,
could it cause some timing issues through all those mechanical linkages;
leading to bad exposures if the stop-down/open sequence doesn't happen
exactly in lock-step with the shutter?

To my surprise, I've just read in the 65~116 brochure that it's not
recommended to use "an Auto Tube in conjunction with extension tubes".
Page 31, or 32 of 36 of the downloaded .pdf

Hey, I was about to experiment on this, and only happened to read the manual
by chance !!
