I called Olympus support and the guy tells me that when there is NO aperture
reading as I had seen...this is a communication problem between camera and
lens. The lens sends the aperture info, focus info, etc to the camera...if
there is a breakdown, i.e., mechanical failure dirty contacts, etc - this will
cause such an issue. He suggested that I try another lens to see if I can
re-create the problem. This could be a software loop (firmware issue),
mechanical failure in camera or lens, or simply dirty contacts. He suggested
making sure i have the current FW Rev (which I do) and cleaning the contacts.
Most of all he suggested trying another lens.

Just seemed odd that it happened in a very low light situation and seemed to
work better in more light. The other thing that popped into mind is
that I used
the Energizer battery instead of the original Olympus battery. I used the
Energizer for the 1st time that evening. Could the battery cause erratic
behavior like this?
