Alternatively, the profligate approach - get another TE-II!  

Unfortunately just a couple of days too late for 7615426010 which sold for
USD9.99.

It's probably just a regular 6V incandescent bulb, there isn't much inside
the TE-II.  It's just a big transformer with a wiper blade on it to vary the
voltage.  They don't even bother to convert it to DC!  Any good electronics
shop should stock a number of 6V bulbs.
