One of the main beneficiaries of increasing numbers of wolves is the
riverside habitats. Elk and the like can no longer browse the cottonwood
and other brush to death. They have to stay out in the open away from
the creek bottoms and ambush. The biggest reason for the decline in big
game numbers is homo sapiens who have driven them out of prime winter
habitat.
