Jay,

FWIW, I have prints (both RC and fiber) that I've marked with a Sharpie
without any bleed through, staining, etc.  Some are easily more than 15 yrs
old.

Sharpie for the backs, and (if fiber) pencil on the front.  If it's an RC
print, I'll pencil the mat with the ol' rock star sig.
