My local midlevel lab running Fuji machines just places the border over the
image cropping even further... It's a shame because the bordered prints look
more finished to my eye than borderless. Be sure to check the labs methods
exactly.

I can only suggest you ask for prints with white border? If you ask for
borderless they will always crop a little.
