Speaking of Gitzo . . .

This damn Yankee has one of the older tripods that was part of a short
lived series, G122/222/322. They shared a very clever design feature
-- one of the legs could be unscrewed near the pivot point and used
as, ta-da -- a monopod!

Very convenient for travel as it provided a tripod and monopod in one
package. Unfortunately, they discontinued them years ago.

BTW, forget the Gitzo "Lifetime And Beyond!" warranty BS. One of the
rivets near a pivot point loosened up on mine and the Bogen service
department insisted it wasn't covered by warranty even though one of
their customer service reps told me it was (he's no longer with them .
. . hmmm). When I asked what *is* covered, they said, "Anything but
normal wear and tear" which, I suspect, means *nothing* is covered
because almost anything else will be considered abuse. @$$holes.
