Well, where do you want me to start?
1. They are rarely color-neutral.
2. The glass is so thick that you can get distortion at the
image edges when using wide-angle lenses.
3. You are constantly cleaning them because they attract dust
and dirt like magnets. This, however, is true of all square
filter systems.
4. The ND gradient filters are not neutral, but oh so very
convenient.
