If a UV or 1B filter doesn't seem to remove the haze, I'd suggest you try
C-POL, which is also known as CIRC-POL or Circular Polariser. After
attaching it to your lens, hold the rim and move it around while looking
through the viewfinder to see the varying effect.
Polarisers can reduce if not eliminate haze. Technically of course, that's
not true. What POL filters do is to limit the type of reflected light coming
through the lens. Glare caused by haze creates a wall of brightened light
that behaves as haze. This wall of light is because light is reflecting off
the scene in all sorts of angles thus creating that wall I speak of. This is
not a technical explanation but I'm trying to see how I can simplify the
haze phenomenon for you. It's kinda like when you have fog and you try to
use your car's standard headlights to throw a beam at it - you just see a
wall of white light in front of you, don't you...
Because light is reflecting all over the place, the POL filter will do its
best to remove as much reflected light and only allow a certain stream to
come through. Doing this will reduce the effect of that wall of light I was
talking about. What you then get are stronger, more saturated colours.
In many ways these are the real colours because glare is removed but since
our eyes are conditioned to see images the way we normally do, we sometimes
don't realise the glare that's around. Removing the glare often makes our
eyes think that the colours are unnatural when in fact, they are the ones
that are real....
Hope that helps. It's kind of a convoluted way to explain it though..... :(
