Get yourself a WhiBal <http://www.whibal.com/> and take the 1/2 hour or 
so necessary to view the complete set of WhiBal tutorial movies here:
<http://pictureflow.fileburst.com/_Tutorials/WhiBal/index.html>  It's a 
great set of tutorials on white balance even if you don't buy the 
WhiBal.  Soon as I get a free 1/2 hour I'm going to take a refresher. 
My main problem is that I forget to use the thing even though I'm 
religious about carrying it in the camera bag.

Just a couple of other items since you didn't mention them.  If you're 
dealing with Miller's (or most any pro lab) make sure the camera and any 
further processing you do are set for sRGB.  Also, calibrate your 
monitor if you haven't done so already.
