Not really. The problem is the register distance, the distance from the 
mount flange to the image plane. Nikon has a rather long one, as does 
OM. So the only way you can use lenses from other systems with shorter 
register distances is with an adapter with additional glass in it.

The additional glass si, in effect, a mild telextender, and actually 
changes the effective focal length of the lenses attached with it. It 
also may have an effect on lens performance.

Canon EF and Oly 4/3 mounts are the most universal receivers, as they 
are large diameter and have short register distances, so there is room 
for a simple adapter without glass. I also don't know if it is still 
true, but it used to be true that Nikon non-pro bodies had no metering 
at all with non AF lenses. Oly 4/3 and Canon bodies support manual and 
aperture priority metering with all lenses.
