Why is the Tilley considered to be such a British and/or Australian icon? Mine
plainly says it's made in Canada, which, of course, is one of the few remaining
and obedient colonies. So, is its origin really "over there" and the ones we
get here mere colonial imitations?

And how to look silly in a Tilley? My wife insists on wearing hers when I've
got the top down on the SSR or the T-tops out of the Z. Yes, she's Irish,
fair-skinned and unfreckled, but it just looks silly, and she has to cinch up
the strap thingy to keep it from blowing off at speed and insists on holding
onto it with both hands when we exceed 100mph. Top-down time is baseball cap
time, and not worn backwards either. If I didn't love her, I'd leave her home.
The stuff we have to put up with! Anyway, she's a decent navigator.
