I've never seen an ME-1 in person but looking at the image at B&H it 
appears that you could do what I intended for my OM eyecups... attach it 
to a lanyard.

Use a needle to thread a piece of flexible black fishing line (not 
monofilament) or other stout thread through the edge of the rubber 
eyecup and tie a knot at the end large enough that the thread can't pass 
back through the hole in the eyecup.  Then attach a fishing swivel hook 
on the other end of the line and attach it to one of the camera strap 
eyelets.

Since I can only see the user's side of the ME-1 if there's a more 
convenient attachment point on the camera side (like a screw head) I 
can't know about it.  A little dab of epoxy might also serve to attach 
the end of the thread to the ME-1.  Shhh!  Don't tell John H. about the 
epoxy.
