Western NY was hit with a suprise October storm which
took down thousands of trees and branches. In turn
power lines, power poles, transformers, and telephone
cables came down which caused a mega black out. We are
still recovering...we have power crews from other
states assisting in recovery effprts. Schools have
been cancelled for a week in many areas. The scene is
like an aftermath of a small hurricane or twister.
Water shortage and potential fuel shortage only made
it worse. Thousands of people experienced flooded
basements. I didnt have power until Sunday and still
dont have Internet access at home. However, it wasnt
all bad - we had hot water and those with gas stoves
were able to cook whatever food didnt spoil. Some
people will not have power until this coming weekend.
The lucky ones received their power back last Saturday
or Sunday. The snow melted very quickly as temps are
now in the 60's but there is a flood warning.
Just a nightmare that I am glad is almost over!
