There will be differing opinions, however I prefer the rigid ones or if
rubber at least the non-collapsing ones. The hood on my lens is there for two
reasons. One is to block the sun or other light from hitting the front
element
of my lens. The other is to protect the front element from getting banged
up. A collapsible hood won't protect like the others. <{8^) Bill Barber
