Tape on the shutter curtain? Maybe somebody poked a hole in it. With
tape on it I would expect exposure problems but not metering problems.
While you are metering the mirror is down and what is behind it
doesn't matter. When you take the exposure OTF (and off the shutter
curtain) auto exposure would be affected. If it has a standard 1-13 or
2-13 screen in it, and you are metering a uniform area, it sounds like
your meter circuit has problems. The spot metering covers a narrow
angle so be sure the scene doesn't change reading by 2 to 3 stops as
you point at different areas. Good luck,
