It's hard to see a bigger cost to C*non than just admitting they
screwed up. They should change it but I don't consider it a big deal.
I leave the camera on all day while I'm out shooting, only turning it
off when I get home. The battery life is much longer than a day of
heavy shooting. Maybe those with AF lenses have a different opinion.

An 8G CF holds about 500 raw images. I seldom fill it up but I have a
couple times. I don't normally charge the battery after use unless it
shows that it is dropping. I can shoot an awful lot of (awful) images
with one battery charge.
