I didn't say it did.  I just think you're taking unnecessary risks with 
your valuable data when the alternative is so cheap and reliable.

But a microdrive problem will likely be a mechanical failure.  What 
you're dealing with appears to be a simple E-1 firmware bug.  From the 
description it sounds as though it was attempting to walk and chew gum 
at the same time, something no DOS was ever able to do and it shouldn't 
have attempted it.
